New iPhone 5S/5C set to be Christmas top-seller

The new iPhone – which will be unveiled at 6pm tonight UK time – is ready to become the most wanted gift this Christmas.

It’s expected to be among retailers’ best-sellers this Christmas, reports Retail Week, following comments from John Lewis boss Andy Street who previously said that "if Apple launches a product this year, it will be [the best seller this year]."

Currys and PC World have already listed the iPad as one of its top ten tech gifts for Christmas 2013, but that list was compiled before the new iPhone announcement date was confirmed.

The new iPhone is rumoured to be named the iPhone 5S, but a budget iPhone 5C model has also been touted. The 5S is said to feature a fingerprint scanner
