GTA 5 could be heading to PC – and a version of the game is rumoured to be playable at the 2013 Gamescom show.
GTA 5 is due to hit UK shelves on September 17th on Xbox 360 and PS3, but a job ad on developer Rockstar Games’ website suggests it could be heading to PC too.
"Rockstar Leeds are currently looking for a talented graphics programmer to help bring our latest titles to the PC platform," read the ad. "Working together with the other Rockstar studios, you will be responsible for maintaining the studio’s uncompromising quality bar, delivering the highest quality PC experience possible."
However, the ad also mentions the role will involve working with a dev team on "next generation games". Considering GTA 5 is definitely launching on PS3 and Xbox 360, not upcoming next-gen consoles Xbox One and PS4, this could mean GTA 5 is also being developed for those platforms, or that Rockstar is working on a different game entirely.
New Grand Theft Auto games are usually ported across to PC around half a year after they arrive on consoles, so it’s likely GTA 5 will launch on PC next year. For example, GTA 4 launched in April 2008 before heading to computers in November 2008.
Reports also suggest GTA 5 will be playable at Gamescom this year, as Rockstar parent Take-Two is attending the show in Cologne, Germany (as published by Neogaf).
In addition, many video game sites are reporting that the much hyped but currently non-existent PC game Half-Life 3 will be playable at the show, as Valve will also have a presence there. Similar reports circulated last year.
It’s worth noting that this year Valve will be present in the business area for trade visitors only.
