Apple is fast-tracking production of new device

Rumour: New iPad Mini on the way

Apple is reportedly looking to fast-track production of a new version of the iPad Mini.

According to Digital Trends, a research note from RBC Capital Markets analyst, Doug Freedman has been circulated that states: “iPad Mini Gen-2: Apple’s gen-2 iPad Mini is getting pulled-in, and is likely to have several new suppliers, the TXN gaining content.”

Freedman is currently visiting a number of chip manufacturers in China and the TXN mentioned in the memo is Texas Instruments, which has supplied Apple with components in the past.

Although a new iPad Mini has been expected since the firsrt model shipped without a retina display, the fast turn-around is unlikely to please Apple’s loyal customer-base. Many Apple users were displeased by the release of the original Mini so soon after the launch of the iPad 4.
