Leaked components indicate the device will be powered by just a dual-core processor

iPhone 5 to be less powerful than its competitors?

As reported earlier today by PCR, a video has surfaced that reveals a whole bunch of components that are reportedly taken from the latest iPhone.

One of the items in particular is a logic board, which was exposed to show off more of the device’s components.

The importance of this would be the presence of an A5X chip, which is commonly found within Apple’s latest iPad.

Whilst this may sound impressive off the bat, the chip itself is only a dual-core offering – something that would trail behind the power of chips within the device’s closest competitors such as the HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S3 and LG Optimus 4X.

Unlike PCs, processing power within smartphones isn’t quite so crucial, and whilst this may be lacking when compared to other devices, an impressive thought would be the graphical capability of the latest iPad packed into an iPhone.

A less powerful chip would also boost the device’s battery life, which would surely win over consumers looking for a device with longevity.

Another leaked component of the upcoming iPhone was its battery, which reportedly offers little added performance over its predecessor, so a less-power-hungry processor would certainly boost this area of the device too.

Of course, everything at this point is still speculation and once Apple finally reveals its newest addition to the iPhone family, it may incorporate a whole host of different components.

As anticipation for the device continues to grow, the pressure is on Apple to produce a device that can meet the high expectations users have come to expect.

These reports of significantly diminished processing power are hardly going to excite users ahead of the devices rumoured release next month.
