Sony has unveiled a video projector that records whatever is written onto the display screen, somewhat like an interactive whiteboard.
The Sony VPL-SW535C bundles infrared pens which enable the project to see what’s being written on the screen. The pen can even be used as an input device, eg. mouse, for a connected computer.
The main idea is that the project could be used in business or in the classroom to save notes written on a screen. The device relies on custom PC software running on the PC connected to the screen.
Other than that, the WXGA resolution VPL-SW535C is good for throwing a two meter diagonal image from half a meter, making it suitable for very tight spaces.
The projector will go on sale in Europe next month but no pricing was announced.
