Solid state storage specialist ADATA has launched a new range of SSDs based on SandForce controllers.
The Taiwan-based company has introduced three categories, the XPG performance range, the Premier Pro range and the Premier range. The range topping XPG category offers the SX900 SSD with maximum sequential speeds of 550 and 530MB/sec reading and writing.
The SX900 will be available in 64, 128, 256 and 512GB capacities and is good for 85,000 IOPS.
The Premier Pro range offers the SP900 drive with similar performance figures to the XPG SX900, including 85,000 IOPS but offers a "competitive price advantage", ADATA said. The SP900 will be available in 64, 128 and 256GB capacities.
The only difference between the XPS and Premier Pro ranges is that the XPG range uses MLC Synchronous NAND storage and the Premier Pro the slightly slower Asynchronous NAND variety.
Rounding out the new lineup, the Premier SP800 is a SATA 3Gb/s drive rather than the 6Gb/s of the higher end models and only comes in capacities of 32 and 64GB. The SP800d has around half the sequential performance of the faster siblings and 44,000 IOPS. A
DATA said the SP800 "enters the market as a high value entry-level solid state drive for those who are just now making the transition from mechanical drives."
