Nvidia’s next generation Kepler GPU will not arrive this year as previously thought, with the graphics specialist clarifying that products would arrive in 2012.
The next-generation graphics technology is expected to be manufactured on a 28nm process technology and will bring significant performance improvements and an increased flexibility that will facilitate GPU-powered general computing.
"Although we will have early silicon this year, Kepler-based products are actually scheduled to go into production in 2012," Nvidia spokesman Ken Brown told Xbit Labs.
"We wanted to clarify this so people wouldn’t expect product to be available this year," he added.
The Kepler devices are believed o arrive with the GeForce 600-series name when they launch as consumer products next year.
