Asus intros new K-series 17-inch notebooks

Asus announced the introduction of two new models in the firm’s 17-inch K-series range, the K73E and K73SV.

The notebooks offer a range of Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processors from Intel’s new Sandy Bridge range and sport 17.3-inch 1600×900 resolution displays.

Both notebooks have built-in 2-megapixel cameras, 4-in-1 card readers and the usual 802.11n-capable WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1. Three USB 2.0 ports, VGA and HDMI are also common specs.

The difference between the models is that the K63E is based on Intel’s GMA HD integrated graphics in the HM65 Express chipset while the K73SV offers an Nvidia GeForce GT 540M with either 1GB or 2GB DDR3 VRAM.

The company also touted ‘IceCool Technology’ in order to keep the palm rests cool and a textured sculpted aluminium finish with a dust-repellent chicklet keyboard.

The company hasn’t yet announced availability and pricing is going to be dependent on the wide variety of specification options available.
