Vendor looks to drive sales in both categories

Acer: Tablets will run alongside laptops

Acer is looking to push sales in both the tablet and laptop product categories.

In an interview with PCR, Acer’s UK general manager Bobby Watkins said that the two sectors are capable of co-existance:

“What we’re going to do with tablets is contribute to choice – offer different screen sizes, different operating systems and a different experience," said Watkins.

"Over time we’ll understand a little more of how the market is, but we do see the tablet market as primarily an addition to the PC opportunities. It’s not a replacement for a netbook, it’s not a replacement for a notebook, it’s something else. I might use a ten-inch laptop to watch a movie on a plane, but I wouldn’t use it to write out an email.”
