Android reference design good for screens up to 15-inches

Nvidia and Atmel collaborate on 16-way touchscreen technology

Nvidia and embedded specialist Atmel announced that the firms are to colalborate in order to enable large format touch screens for tablet PCs.

Making at joint announcement at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Atmel and Nvidea unveiled two reference designs featuring the Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset and the Atmel Maxtouch MXT1376 designed to service touchscreens up to 15 inches in size.

The reference design is aimed at the Android operating system and Atmel’s touchscreen chipset is said to provide the fastest response times, better power consumptions and rejection of unintended touches. 

These features would offer "a more intuitive touch screen experience for applications ranging from gaming to making calls, drawing, gesturing and more," the firms said in a release.
