Intel-powered 10-inch slate will cover all the OS bases

Evolve III Maestro Slate will boot Android, MeeGo or Windows 7

Tablet maker Evolve III is set to launch the 10-inch Intel Atom-powered Maestro slate which will boot Android, MeeGo or Windows 7.

The device was shown at CES with an Atom N475 CPU but when the Maestro appears in the second quarter it will apparently offer a dual-core Intel Oak Trail processor.

Other specifications include a 1024 x 600 touch screen, 32GB of solid state storage and 2GB of RAM as well as 3G and 802.11n WiFi connectivity.

The device was spied on the Intel stand at CES and the triple-boot aspect appears to mirror Intel’s strategy of covering the tablet OS bases by supporting a number of competing operating systems.

Intel’s x86 port of Android is more than likely just a tick-box feature since users happy to run Android would likely be more attracted to an ARM-powered tablet.

However Evolve III have also been in the news for featuring an interactive demonstration of the MeeGo user interface on their web site, as it will presumably appear on the Maestro slate.
