Asus announced that the anticipated Asus Eee 1215N will be available in Europe in September.
The 1215N is the first of a new class of ultra portables based on Intel’s new dual-core D525 Atom CPU and Nvidia’s ION 2 graphics and the Nvidia Optimus technology which allows switching between discreet and integrated graphics to save power.
The 1.45kg 12.1-inch ultra portable 1215N has a screen resolution a little higher than much of the company’s netbook range at 1366 x 768 but is similarly LED backlit. The 1.8GHz Atom D525 is matched with 2GB of RAM and there’s 512MB of dedicated memory within the Nvidia ION 2 graphics system.
Elsewhere there’s a 250GB hard drive, webcam, LAN, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, SD card reader, HDMI out and a sexy new blade-like chassis that reverses the rounded cutesy "sea shell" design that’s featured heavily in Asus products of late. Battery life is said to be around the 7 hour mark.
The 1215N will be available at around €499 (£415) and will be offered in red, black and silver colours.
