High street retailer HMV’s plans to become a superbrand in the entertainment sector have taken a big step forward today, with the launch of a new music download service.
The firm is also planning to develop an in-house digital distribution service for games, which you can read more about here.
The new music portal – hmvdigital.com – is compatible with PC and Mac, and includes a download manager which automates synchronisation with a user’s iTunes library or with Windows Media Player.
Consumers will be able to pre-order digital tracks, make gift purchases and re-download previous purchases at no additional cost – a feature sorely missing from iTunes.
