Asus has lifted the lid on its new laptop lineup at this year’s CES, including collaborations with top designers and a gaming notebook.
Among the new products was the Asus NX90 Bang & Olufsen ICEpower laptop, created by B&O’s chief designer David Lewis. The device features a slick aluminum shell and palm rest, along with a matte black keyboard and two touch pads. The display, designed to look like a high-end flat screen TV, has speakers on either side.
Asus’ second big design statement is the Eee PC Seashell Karim Rashid Collection – a range of ‘concept’ netbooks in a choice of hot pink or coffee brown.
The ROG G73Jh, dubbed ‘The Gamer’s Notebook’, was developed in response to gamers’ demand for an advanced mobile gaming machine. It has an Intel Core i7 processor, DirectX 11 capable ATI Radeon HD5870 graphics, up to 8GB of DDR3 system memory, 8-channel HD audio with EAX 4.0 compatibility, overclocking, ambient lighting and 1TB of storage space.
In a supposedly eco friendly move, Asus also unveiled a notebook clad in what it describes as “environmentally friendly bamboo”. The Bamboo U33Jt is available in 12.1-inch and 11.1-inch models.
As well as its 2010 laptop lineup, the vendor showed three new products in its Waveface range, including the Casa widescreen display, a touch-sensitive screen and the Waveface Ultra – essentially a smartphone watch.
