Netbooks, imaging, audiovisual and gaming dominate retailer's Christmas predictions

DSGi reveals its Xmas hotlist

DSGi has revealed the products it expects to fly off the shelves this Christmas, with netbooks, imaging, audiovisual and gaming dominating the lists.

The retail chain listed the top 45 products it believes are must haves this Christmas, breaking them down into stocking fillers, for him, for her, for kids and teens, and for all the family.

Video and digital cameras dominated the under £50 and under £100 for him categories, with the disgo DV3 pocket camcorder pushing down the price of video equipment to what was unimaginable levels even last year at just £29.99. It also sees the Oregon Scientific Action camcorder as another option for people who want to record Christmas without breaking the bank at £99.99.

Further up the price scale in the luxury for him category, Advent’s 4211C netbook is seen as a hot product, while Samsung’s BDP1500 Blu-ray player and Acer’s Aspire range fly the flag for high definition video.

For her, DSGi see digital photo frames, iPods, the Flip pocket camcorder, and Nintendo Wii with Samba De Amigo are top of the list for hot products.

The retail group also believes that this is the Christmas families will push out the boat to upgrade to HD Ready televisions, especially as the digital switchover approaches.

Speaking about the list, DSGi spokeswoman Anina Castle said: "Value for money tops our list this Christmas and we have a fantastic selection of gift to suit everyone’s needs and every budget, as well as the latest technologies including netbooks, Blu-ray players and a wide range of digital photography equipment."
