Windows 7 less than a year away

Software giant Microsoft will be launching its latest operating system Windows 7 in the middle of next year, in time for mass adoption on PCs in time for Christmas.

The firm has been relatively secretive on the precise date of the launch up until now, but director Doug Howe told Cnet: “definitely the holiday focus is going to be on 7.”

Apparently, a beta version will be launched early 2009, while it has been hinted that only one release candidate is in the works.
