Search firm Google has topped a list of the world’s most powerful brands; according to a report by research company Millward Brown.
The report, compiled by the WPP-owned firm, valued the firm at $86 billion (£43 billion), seeing the firm top the list for the second year in a row.
It saw a 30 per cent year-on-year increase in its value despite concerns over the impact of the credit crunch on its advertising revenue. "Google’s rank has been driven by fantastic financial performance and equity value," said Peter Walshe, the global account director at Millward Brown.
Apple also had a good year, seeing its brand value increase a massive 123 per cent to $55.2 million (£27.6 million) on the back of it successfully marketing its product lines.
"Apple’s 123 per cent rise has proved to be from a mix of a slue of innovative products such as the iTouch, iPhone, Leopard and computers for which consumers have given the brand a lot of credit," added Walshe.
