Struggling vendor signals possible future direction

Evesham launches Freeview box

In a move that could signal a further shift away PC manufacture – Evesham Technology has announced that it is preparing to launch a new twin-tuner DVR-based Freeview box – the DTR250.

The company has had a troubled couple of months after it emerged that it was facing a shortfall of £30 million, due in part to the Government’s withdrawal of the HCI.

A further move into consumer electronics products could be seen as an attempt to make up for some of that shortfall – possibly due to Evesham believing that the sector is more lucrative than PC retail – with the DTR250 being the first product to be launched since it went into administration.

The DTR250 comes with a 250GB HDD and an electronic programming guide allowing you to automatically set programmes to record. The DTR250 is available for £169.99 via Evesham’s website.
