Xbox One to launch ahead of PS4 in UK, release date confirmed

The Xbox One will arrive in the UK and Europe on November 22nd – one week before the PS4 hits shelves on November 29th.

However, November 22nd is the global release date, meaning the Xbox One will launch after the PS4 in the US (which arrives on November 15th), reports MCV.

The Xbox One will also arrive in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand and Spain on November 22nd.

To mark the date, Microsoft has also made extra Xbox One Day One Editions available to pre-order at retail.

Xbox VP of marketing, strategy and business Yusuf Mehdi said: “We are humbled and gratified by the tremendous interest in Xbox One from game fans everywhere. We sold out of our pre-order supply faster than at any other time in our history and we are on path to have the biggest launch of an Xbox ever. We look forward to celebrating with millions and millions of gamers this holiday.”

The original Xbox 360 launched eight years ago in North America – also on November 22nd.
