New Tomb Raider game Rise of the Tomb Raider will only be available on Xbox One, Microsoft has announced at its Gamescom 2014 press conference.
The game – due for release Christmas 2015 – will not be coming to PC or PS4. It’s the follow-up to last year’s Tomb Raider reboot, which was available on multiple platforms.
Crystal Dynamics’ head of studio Darrell Gallagher said: "This announcement with Microsoft is one step to help us put Tomb Raider on top of action adventure gaming.
“Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011. We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past – we believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft.
“This doesn’t mean that we’re walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4."

– More than 100 indie games are in development for Xbox One under the ID@Xbox indie initiative, including comedic PC title Goat Simulator and PC MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) title SMITE.
– Ubisoft’s racing MMO game The Crew will come to Xbox One on November 11th, as well as PC and PS4.
– Three new Xbox One bundles are on the way, including a FIFA 15 edition out in September which comes with the game and a controller for £349.99, a Sunset Overdrive white console and copy of the game for £349.99 out on October 31st, and a Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare bundle with a custom console, controller, 1TB hard drive, headset and a copy of the Day Zero edition of the game for £429.99, out on November 3rd.
– The Halo 5: Guardians beta will start this December.
– Xbox One owners will be able to watch videos, listen to music, and browse photos from USB and DLNA with file formats including Mpeg 2 TS, .MKV and animated gifs by the end of the year.
– Forza Horizon 2 will be the first Xbox One game to let gamers pre-order and download it ahead of its launch date.
– Microsoft will launch the Halo Channel on Xbox One, which will give players a host of new content and allow them to connect with one another from game to game.
