"The live updates from TomTom are the best out there" says senior VP of marketing

TomTom: Our live updates are better than Google Maps

Sat nav vendor TomTom says there’s no comparison between its live traffic updates and those of Google Maps.

Its new TomTom GO range boasts a new Interactive Map, 3D Maps and Lifetime TomTom Traffic – up-to-date traffic info that promises to pinpoint where delays start and end.

Drivers can access the updates via Smartphone Connected devices (using the TomTom GO 400, 500 and 600) which pull in data from a smartphone using Bluetooth, or via Always Connected devices (the GO 5000 and 6000) with built-in connectivity and no roaming costs.

Gary Raucher, TomTom’s Senior Vice President of Marketing, told PCR: "We’ve done head to head [comparisons] with Google Maps with a number of people, and the live updates from TomTom are the best out there.

"That’s what we’re trying to do – to have people make sure that their device provides real-time accurate travel information. For many people that will mean an opportunity to go back and purchase a new sat nav."

Corinne Vigreux, Managing Director of TomTom Consumer, added: “Where navigation used to be about getting people to unfamiliar destinations, we are now empowering drivers with easy access to the information they need to make the smartest driving decisions, every day.”

“We have completely redesigned the PND to become an essential daily driving tool. By providing easy access to our world class TomTom Traffic and enabling drivers to see more than just the road ahead, drivers will feel on top of their journey like never before.”

TomTom has just launched the ‘first improv comedy show on wheels’ as part of a major marketing campaign across the UK.
