Michael Cornish will work on online services and the firm's multichannel strategy

Tesco appoints Blinkbox founder as group digital chief

Michael Cornish, founder of video-on-demand service Blinkbox, has been promoted to group digital chief at Tesco as the supermarket seeks to expand its raft of online entertainment products.

Cornish will work from Tesco’s digital entertainment services office in central London, working on online services from Blinkbox to Clubcard TV and beyond, alongside Tesco’s multichannel strategy. He will lead a team of 350 people as the firm continues to roll out new offers.

“We’re going really fast on this,” said Comish in The Telegraph. “We’re launching three products this year and out new development centre will be open in autumn.”

“We’re doing this because there’s so much money at stake,” Comish continued. “The competition for customers is everywhere.”
