New smartphone can be submerged in water for up to 30 minutes

Sony unveils Xperia Z; Phones 4U says it’s coming to UK in March

Sony’s new flagship smartphone has been unveiled at CES 2013.

The Xperia Z features a 5-inch full HD display and is water resistant and ‘dust-proof’.

It can be submerged in water for up to 30 minutes without side effects. Sony Mobile’s Steve Walker even claims it can be taken in the shower and washed under a tap if it gets dirty.

Featuring a quad-core processor, 13MP camera and 4G connectivity, the Xperia Z boasts ‘one-touch’ connectivity, meaning you can connect to other devices by simply touching them with the phone.

Shortly after the new smartphone was announced, Phones 4U revealed that the Xperia Z will be available in store from March 1st.

The UK retailer is encouraging fans to pre-register on its site for more information and has revealed that the smartphone will be available across a range of networks.

Voderfone has already confirmed that it will definitely be selling the Sony Xperia Z.
