New Samsung ad pokes fun at Blackberry

Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini with NFC comes to UK end of January

Samsung has announced that an NFC-enabled version of the Galaxy S3 Mini will be available across all major networks in the UK from the end of January.

Powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the S3 Mini includes S Voice, which enables people to tell the phone to wake up, answer an incoming call, or even take a photo. Also featured is S Beam, which allows a 10MB music file to be shared in just two seconds. By combining NFC with Wi-Fi Direct, S Beam is capable of sending larger files between phones.

Simon Stanford, vice president, Telecommunications & Networks, Samsung UK and Ireland said: “NFC technology and the digital wallet started to gain significant traction in 2012, particularly in the run up to the Olympics. It’s an exciting time in the mobile market watching the next phase of its evolution take shape, so we’re happy to announce that we are bringing these new experiences to our customers through our growing number of NFC-enabled devices.”

Samsung has also unveiled its latest advert for the Galaxy Note 2 and S3 devices, which takes a dig at Blackberry devices.

Set within the offices of a fictional game developer, the ad shows shots of Blackberry devices being frowned upon by most of the staff.

Last year Samsung took a very obvious swing at iPhone fans in an advert which implied the Apple device was only liked by old people and idiots.
