S3 Mini expected to have same specs as Galaxy’s flagship smartphone

Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini will be announced on October 11th

Samsung’s JK Shin has confirmed that the Galaxy S3 Mini will be launched in Germany tomorrow.

Last week, German invites were sent out by Samsung, teasing recipients that ‘something small’ was joining the Galaxy family.

“There’s a lot of demand for a 4-inch screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device, but we call it ‘mini,’” said Shin, Samsung’s head of Mobile Communications.

It’s quite a bold statement to call a 4-inch screen device ‘mini’, but bare in mind, the Samsung Galaxy S3 does have a whopping 4.8-inch screen.

It seems a wise move for Samsung to keep the ‘Galaxy S3’ name for its next model rather than brand it a whole new range, as its flagship smartphone has proved to be something of a phenomenon – the device sold 20 million units within 100 days of its launch.

The Mini is expected to have the same specs as the original Galaxy S3, 1.4GHz Exynos quad core processor, 1GB of Ram, Mali-400MP quad core graphics processor, super AMOLED display, 8MP camera, and MicroSD and SDHC capabilities.

Interestingly, tomorrow’s launch will be only six days before Apple’s iPad Mini is expected to be announced.

Check back tomorrow for more info and photos.
