New phone will be similar to Samsung’s ‘Youm’ prototype

Samsung curved smartphone to be unveiled in October

Samsung has announced that it will release a smartphone with a curved screen in October.

Back in January, the Korean firm unveiled some smartphone concepts at CES, showing different types of bendable displays.

The new announcement stressed that Samsung’s next phone won’t be ‘completely flexible’, so it seems it will be more in keeping with the ‘Youm’ prototype that was also shown off at CES.

The 5.5-inch prototype’s screen stretches to the outer edges of the device, displaying notifications along the side.

Samsung didn’t mention any specifics about the device and hasn’t revealed its name.

The news was mentioned during Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 launch in Seoul.
