Letter sent to Nokia supplies about name change

Nokia to be renamed Microsoft Mobile

The Nokia brand name will be dropped by Microsoft once it officially acquires the mobile manufacturer.

According to a letter sent by the new owners to suppliers, the Nokia Corporation/Nokia Oyj (Ltd) name will be replaced with Microsoft Mobile Oy.

Posted by Nokiapoweruser.com, the letter reads: "Microsoft Mobile Oy is the legal entity name that should be used for VAT IDs and for the issuance of invoices."

The acquisition of Nokia’s loss-making business was first announced in September.

The deal has been held up this month due to legal cases in India and China involving both Nokia and Microsoft.

Oyj is the Finnish abbreviation for ‘public stock company’ while Oy stands for ‘stock company’.
