Amazon has revealed its sixth-generation Kindle Paperwhite e-reader which boasts an improved built-in light, processor and contrast.
The device is available to pre-order on Amazon.co.uk and will launch on October 9th, priced at £109. In the US it will arrive on September 30th with a $119 price tag.
The new Kindle Paperwhite features Page Flip, which lets readers skim through books page-by-page or skip through chapters without losing their place, as well as improved parental controls.
A new Vocabulary Builder automatically compiles words users look up in the dictionary into simple flashcards, while Smart Lookup mode combines a dictionary with X-Ray and Wikipedia sites so readers can quickly access more information about the book’s content.
The sixth-generation Kindle Paperwhite boasts eight weeks of battery life, weighs 7.3 ounces and includes built-in Wi-Fi and 3G (the 3G version will cost £169). Users can download millions of books, newspapers and magazines, including more than 400,000 books exclusive to the digital Kindle Store.
It comes with a USB 2.0 charging cable – buyers will have to pay extra if they want an AC adapter.
The Kindle Paperwhite promises a 25 per cent faster processor and 19 per cent tigther touch grid which makes the touch-screen more responsive and accurate.
