Microsoft hopes for 75 stores in place by 2014

Microsoft to open up 32 pop-up stores across US and Canada on October 26th

The company’s first permanent retail store will open up in November.

With Microsoft holding its official Windows 8 launch in New York on October 25th, this retail push will help Microsoft market its new operating system as well as the Surface tablet.

These stores will open up the ability to help Microsoft educate consumers about its new OS and give them a chance to talk to specifically trained Microsoft retail staff about the company’s products.

News of these pop-up stores has been known for a few months, when Microsoft let slip that it would like to have 75 stores in place by 2014.

The tech giant is clearly gearing up for a holiday push, and it will be interesting to see the impact of this expanded retail presence.

There is no news yet of plans for holiday pop-up stores in any other countries at the moment.
