Surface starting price matches Apple’s cheapest iPad

Microsoft Surface will start at £399

Microsoft has announced prices for its Windows 8 Surface tablet in the UK.

Available now for pre-order, Surface will start at £399 for the 32GB Windows 8 RT version.

This starting price matches Apple’s cheapest iPad, but if you want a 32GB RT tablet with a Touch Cover, it will set you back £479.

For £559, consumers can get their hands on a Windows 8 RT Surface tablet with 64GB of storage, complete with Touch Cover.

The pricing coincides with the release of the first super-dancey Surface TV ads, which you can view here.

The Surface tablet is an ARM-based slate with a 10.6-inch 1366 x 768 resolution display screen and Nvidia Tegra 3 processor.

The Surface Pro – which will come with Intel’s 3rd gen Ivy Bridge Core i5 processor and either 64GB or 128GB of storage – is expected to arrive in early 2013.

Microsoft’s Surface tablet is available for pre-order now at www.microsoft.com/surface.
