Jon Atherton joins Exertis as commercial development director

Jon Atherton has joined Exertis, following his departure from rival distributor Entatech earlier this year.

He joins as commercial development director and his appointment is effective immediately. He will be based at Exertis’ Basingstoke office.

As a former Entatech director and VP, Jon is well known within the UK tech distribution industry. He brings two decades of distribution experience to Exertis.

In his new role, Atherton will focus on B2B vendors. He will work with the existing commercial teams to help expand the company’s current portfolio and take the business into new and emerging areas.

Atherton said: “Exertis is shaping distribution in line with the changes we’re seeing throughout the IT industry to better reflect the needs of its reseller partners. That’s why I am excited about this move because it will bring fresh and exciting challenges.

"Exertis already has an outstanding product portfolio helping the company grow into new areas and technologies. Its recent acquisitions will further cement its position as the leading distributor and it feels good to join a growing and consistently successful business."

Phil Brown, Exertis’ B2B director, added: “Jon brings a wealth of experience to his role at Exertis at a time when the company’s momentum and appetite for growth shows no sign of slowing down. I am confident that with his skills, knowledge and contacts, Jon will help Exertis make serious in-roads into the new opportunities in the channel. We welcome him to the team.”

Former VIP Computers exec Dave Stevinson has replaced Jon Atherton’s role at Entatech.

Last month Exertis acquired Computers Unlimited.
