67-year-old is detained by authorities in Guatemala after month long chase

John McAfee arrested

After a month long wild goose chase with authorities, the antivirus software creator has been detained by Guatemalan police.

PCR reported yesterday that authorities were closing in on the murder suspect as a picture he posted contained data, which subsequently revealed his location.

McAfee revealed that he was entering the country yesterday, hoping to seek protection of the Guatemalan government, whist talking with journalists and even conducting an interview with American news network NBC.

The 67-year-old was reportedly caught with the aid of Interpol agents at a hotel in an upmarket area of Guatemala City.

The country is attempting to expel the alleged fugitive, however, there has not been an international arrest issued for McAfee and it is unknown which country he would be deported to.

McAfee is sought by authorities in connection with the shooting of his neighbour, Gregory Faull, who was found dead on November 12th.
