Baltasar Kormakur on board to direct TV series

EVE Online developers planning TV show based on player stories

CCP Games has announced that it will bring EVE Online to the small screen, using stories written by the game’s subscribers.

The TV series will be directed by Baltasar Kormakur, whose 2012 film The Deep was nominated for an Oscar last year.

"The EVE universe is full of astounding stories of epic battles, daring heists, and gripping political intrigue, all of which will make for an amazing television series," said Kormákur.

Announced on EVE Online’sFacebook page, CCP Games said the show will be based on a true story, 20,000 years into the future.

Players interested in submitting a story can do so by visiting truestories.eveonline.com. There are just seven days left to submit before voting starts.

EVE Online will celebrate its 10-year anniversary in May and currently has over 500,000 subscribers. Its 19th expansion pack, Odyssey, launches on June 4th.
