Edward Snowden to talk about how tech can protect customer data via livestream

NSA PRISM whistleblower Edward Snowden will speak at an event next Monday (March 10th) about how we can use technology to protect ourselves from mass surveillance.

He will talk with Christopher Soghoian, the principal technologist of the American Civil Liberties Union, at 11am (Central Time Zone, six hours behind GMT). This will take place at the 2014 SXSW Interactive Festival.

The conversation will be focused on the impact of the NSA’s spying efforts on the technology community. Snowden will speak about his beliefs on what the tech community can do to secure the private data of customers.

This session will be moderated by Ben Wizner,director of the ACLU’s Speech, Privacy & Technology Project and Edward Snowden’s legal advisor.

“A Virtual Conversation with Edward Snowden” will take place in Exhibit Hall 5 on the first floor of the Austin Convention Center, while a free livestream of the session will be available, courtesy of The Texas Tribune

After this, the talk will be available for free replay via the ACLU website.
