After months of rumours that Apple is about to unveil a tablet, it seems that Microsoft may have beaten them to it with its new device.
According to technology blog Gizmodo, Microsoft’s Courier is in the “late prototype” stage of development. A video has appeared on the blog, which bears the name of Pioneer Studios, a division within Microsoft’s entertainment and devices department.
Dual touchscreens around seven inches wide, which can be used with fingers or a stylus, are connected by a hinge containing a single home button. Wireless signal and battery life are displayed along the edge of one of the screens, while the back cover contains a camera.
Gizmodo reports that the head of Microsoft’s entertainment and devices division, J Allard, is leading the project, which until recently was a secret between the few engineers and executives working on it.
Microsoft is reportedly developing the Courier’s user interface and showing design concepts to external agencies.
