Apple is aggressively hiring employees to work on the iWatch, which is set to launch in late 2014.
The Financial Times reports that Apple wants to bring in fresh expertise to deal with a number of design problems.
Sources familiar with Apple’s plans told the publication that the firm’s engineers have come across problems that they’ve not been able to solve. They also added that the hiring of new employees suggests the iWatch would not be ready for launch until the latter part of 2014.
Rumours of Apple producing wearable technology started at the beginning of the year.
In June is was revealed that the firm had filed a trademark for the iWatch name with the Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property. Less than a month later, reports suggested that the iWatch had now been trademarked in Mexico, Japan, Taiwan and Turkey.
The wearable tech is expected to be a communicator device for iPhone, iPad and iPod.
