Doge4Kids campaign to use Dogecoin to provide service dogs to children in need

Dogecoin is being raised to fund service dogs for children living with disabilities.

The Doge4Kids campaign is looking to raise $30,000 – or 20 million Dogecoin (‘DOGE’) – in the virtual currency to donate to 4 Paws for Ability, a service dog organisation that “strives to take the ‘dis’ out of disability”.

The charity operates in the US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, Japan and Switzerland.

The money raised will help sponsor two litters of puppies, who will be trained and paired with suitable children once old enough, and two adult service dogs who will be placed with families in need.

At the time of writing, over 14 million of the 20 million DOGE has been pledged – approximately $17,600 of the target.

Dogecoin appears to be becoming the cryptocurrency of choice for fundraising efforts, having recently been used to raise more than $25,000 to send the Jamaican bobsled team to the 2014 Winter Olympics – the first time the national team has qualified since 2002.
